I got the Red Pike Ciabatta, which was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. Decent portion size for the price. Nice friendly staff, will definitely be visiting again 😁

We saw this place on our way into town coming from Grasmere and thought it looked modern and cute at the same time. Today we had the pleasure of trying the ‘fell walker’ ciabatta sandwich and the ‘salty dog’ crisps and it is the best tuna melt/sandwich I’ve ever had. I’m very pleased it opens at 8 am as I shall be coming back on Friday before heading south! The service was also great, the lady in the counter and the lovely chef at the back were local, polite and very friendly :)! Hasta pronto chicos!- Meal type

The new and very friendly owners of The Picnic Box have done a really great job with reinventing an Ambleside staple putting their own fresh stamp on a great little sandwich shop. Thoroughly enjoyed my steak sandwich special. Super tasty!
